Games like Balatro on mobile

By the Lootero team. Published .

Balatro is on phones. It costs $9.99 on the US App Store and on Google Play, with nothing else to buy, and it has been on iPhone and Android since September 2024. If you have won with every deck you care about, or you want more of the moment when a weak hand suddenly scores far more than it should, these are the seven games we would play next. Dice of Kalma plays the most like Balatro, and it is free to play with ads. CloverPit is the one we would buy first, because its charms change the rules of the slot machine itself, and finding two that feed each other is the closest thing on this list to finding a pair of Jokers that multiply each other.

In Balatro you play poker hands to reach a score target. Jokers, special cards you buy between rounds, change how your hands score, and the fun is finding Jokers that multiply each other. Each attempt is called a run: when you miss a target, the run is over and you start again from the beginning. Every game below has runs like these, and items that grow much stronger when you combine them well. What changes is the thing you play with, from a slot machine to a chessboard. All seven are on iPhone and Android, and each game's section says how it plays differently from Balatro.

Short answer

Prices are paid once, with nothing else to buy, unless the line says otherwise.

  • A slot machine you fill with symbols to earn your rent: Luck be a Landlord, $4.99.
  • A darker slot machine in a locked cell, with a growing debt to pay: CloverPit, $6.99, plus a $1.99 add-on.
  • Poker hands made with dice: Dice of Kalma, free with ads, or $6.99 on iPhone to remove them.
  • Chess where you buy rule-breaking upgrades between fights: Gambonanza, $5.99.
  • A claw machine that grabs your weapons: Dungeon Clawler, $6.99.
  • Words scored like Scrabble tiles, with multipliers: Letterlike, $4.99.
  • An action game where you fuse bouncing balls: BALL x PIT, free to try, then $14.99 for the full game on both stores, plus a $6.99 expansion.

Why you might like it

Luck be a Landlord gives you a slot machine and a landlord who wants rent. Every spin, the symbols on your machine pay out coins, and as you go you add new symbols and items to the machine. Symbols work together, such as a cat that drinks milk or a bee that pollinates a flower, and some symbols remove others you no longer want. The rent keeps going up, and you win by paying it twelve times. Its store listing counts 152 symbols and 20 apartment floors, which are harder levels you reach by winning. An App Store reviewer who first played it on PC wrote that a phone suits it perfectly.

How it differs from Balatro

In Balatro you choose which cards to play. Here you pull the lever and the machine decides where everything lands, so your choices all happen between spins, when you decide what goes into the machine, and each spin is more down to luck. The size of the symbol pool makes that worse at times. A Google Play reviewer in July 2026 kept being offered the watering can and the fertilizer and never a seed, so the plan the game had suggested never came together. Google Play has also restricted the game in thirteen countries under its rules on simulated gambling. Wikipedia, which reports this, doesn't name the countries, so check that it shows up in your store before you plan on it.

Platforms
iPhone, Android
Price
$6.99 on the US App Store and Google Play, plus the $1.99 Unholy Fusion add-on (the game is also free with Google Play Pass)
Official trailer from Panik Arcade, on YouTube.

Why you might like it

CloverPit locks you in a rusty cell with a slot machine and an ATM. Each round you put coins into the machine to buy your spins, and you choose how: more coins get you more spins and one ticket, fewer coins get you fewer spins and more tickets. Tickets buy charms from a shop in the cell, and charms change how the machine works, such as how many spins you get or what each symbol is worth. When the deadline comes you must pay your debt at the ATM, and if you can't, the floor opens under you. There are more than 150 charms, and finding two that work together feels like finding the right pair of Jokers. An App Store reviewer who plays Balatro a lot called it complex and surprisingly well balanced.

How it differs from Balatro

CloverPit is a horror game, seen through your own eyes from inside the cell, with a story that has several endings and an endless mode. The ticket choice gives every round a decision before you spin, between more spins now and more charms later. The $1.99 Unholy Fusion add-on brings a Surgery Machine that fuses two charms into one stronger one, with 30 fusions to find, more charms and a new ending. The complaint we saw is about speed. An App Store reviewer in July 2026 found that late in a strong run a single spin can take over a minute to score, even at the fastest setting. Saves used to stay on your phone only, and the June 2026 update added cloud saves.

Free, with ads and in-app purchases ($6.99 removes the ads on the US App Store; Google Play does not name its purchases)

Why you might like it

In our view Dice of Kalma is the closest to Balatro's rules on this list, played with dice instead of cards. You roll your dice to make poker hands such as a full house or a straight, and you can reroll the dice you don't want. Skulls do the job of Jokers: you collect them into a deck, and each one adds to your score when its condition is met, such as a die showing a six. You can also upgrade the hands you play most. The games site GameSpew counted 25 rounds, each with a higher target than the last, and gave it 7 out of 10. The Google Play listing counts more than 70 skulls.

How it differs from Balatro

What grows during a run is your deck of skulls and the hands you upgrade. An App Store reviewer in December 2025 wished they could change the dice too, and another, in April 2026, found it repetitive after the first few wins. GameSpew felt it may stick a little too close to Balatro. It is also the only game here you can play to the end for free, and Google Play reviewers disagree about the ads: one in September 2026 found them rare, while another, in August, saw one every few rounds and had to watch three to reroll the skulls on offer. On the App Store $6.99 removes the ads. Google Play lists purchases from $0.99 to $19.99 without naming them, so we can't tell you whether an ad-free option is among them there.

Platforms
iPhone, Android
Price
$5.99 on the US App Store and Google Play, paid once (also free with Google Play Pass)
Official trailer from Stray Fawn Studio, on YouTube.

Why you might like it

Gambonanza turns chess into a run of short battles on small boards. Between battles you buy Gambits, more than 150 of them, which bend the rules of chess the way Jokers bend the rules of poker. You can upgrade the squares of the board itself and keep spare pieces in reserve to bring out at the right moment. Bosses wait along the way, and if you waste too many moves the board starts to crumble under you. Its developer says you don't need to be a chess expert, and an App Store reviewer agreed that people who have never played chess can enjoy it, because the game marks which pieces you can take.

How it differs from Balatro

You win each battle by outplaying an opponent on the board, so in our view it rewards planning more than any other game here. That is also why its luck stands out. An App Store reviewer in May 2026 found many Gambits to be pure chance in a game this tactical, and the game's balance tilted toward queens. The computer opponent goes easy on you: another reviewer could leave a piece undefended in later levels without losing it. It plays with the phone held sideways, and a Google Play reviewer in August 2026 asked for an upright mode.

Dungeon Clawler

Platforms
iPhone, Android (also Apple Arcade, the game subscription from Apple, as Dungeon Clawler+)
Price
$6.99 on the US App Store and Google Play, paid once (also free with Google Play Pass)
Official trailer from Stray Fawn Studio, on YouTube.

Why you might like it

In Dungeon Clawler your weapons and shields sit in a claw machine, and each turn you steer the claw to grab some of them. Whatever you drop into the slot is what you play that turn against the monsters in front of you. As you go deeper into the dungeon you add new items to the machine, and the best runs come from items that make each other stronger, much like a good Balatro deck. It came to phones in November 2024 as an early access version, still being finished, and left early access with version 1.0 in 2026, which has 26 characters and a Daily Challenge mode. Its store descriptions still call it early access.

How it differs from Balatro

Balatro never asks for a steady hand, but here your aim with the claw matters as much as your choices, and a bad grab can cost you a fight. Small items are the hardest to land: an App Store reviewer in June 2025 found that daggers and rings can come to rest on the ledge between the machine and the drop slot. Some of your progress carries over, too: winning with a character earns its Lucky Paw, and you can take three Lucky Paws into later runs. A Google Play reviewer in September 2026 felt the runs lean too much on luck, and the developer answered that rerolls and your choice of path help steer which items you are offered.

Letterlike

Made by
Puzzlelike
On phones
2024
Platforms
iPhone, Android
Price
$4.99 on the US App Store and Google Play, paid once
Official trailer from Letterlike, on YouTube.

Why you might like it

Letterlike is Balatro for people who like word games. You make words from the letters you draw to reach a points target in each round, with a limited number of words to do it, and you can discard letters you don't want. Each run has random items and random bosses. Gems you earn buy lasting upgrades, such as more points per letter or a multiplier for your word score, and before each run you choose five of the upgrades you own to take with you. A Google Play reviewer compared the scoring to Scrabble.

How it differs from Balatro

Your vocabulary does more for you than luck does, though the letters you draw still matter. One Google Play reviewer lost runs early because no vowels came up however many consonants they threw away, and the developer replied that the game can't promise vowels. The listing says the whole game works offline, and its last update came in July 2025. Earlier that month an App Store reviewer found that some achievements and rewards stayed locked after being earned, and the update fixed what it calls a bug related to unlocking bags, so we can't say whether every part of that problem is gone. It also has the fewest ratings here, 122 on the App Store.

BALL x PIT

Made by
Kenny Sun and Friends, published by Devolver Digital
On phones
2026
Platforms
iPhone, Android
Price
Free to try with no ads, then $14.99 for the full game, plus a $6.99 expansion on the US App Store (Google Play lists purchases from $6.99 to $14.99 without naming them)
Official trailer from DevolverDigital, on YouTube.

Why you might like it

BALL x PIT is the pick if you want to watch your combos play out in real time. Your hero shoots balls that bounce off the walls and into rows of monsters walking toward you, as in a brick-breaking game. You find special balls with effects such as lightning or poison, and you can fuse two of them into a new one: the game has more than 60 balls and hundreds of possible fusions. Between runs you rebuild a town above the pit, with more than 70 buildings, and new characters who each play differently. On phones you can let the balls fire by themselves and steer only your hero.

How it differs from Balatro

Nothing happens in Balatro until you play a hand, while here the monsters keep walking toward you as you aim, so your reflexes count as much as your build. Between runs you spend what you gathered in the pit on the town, and its buildings give you bonuses for the next run. The $14.99 purchase buys the main game, and the Risen Ballbylon expansion is $6.99 more. Keep an eye on your saves. An App Store reviewer in July 2026 lost their progress when they moved to a new phone, and a Google Play reviewer in August found that buildings bought just before closing the game were gone when they came back.

Is Balatro on mobile?

Yes, Balatro has been on iPhone and Android since 26 September 2024. It costs $9.99 on the US App Store and on Google Play, and neither store lists any in-app purchases. On iPhone and iPad it is also part of Apple Arcade as Balatro+, which costs $6.99 a month or $49.99 a year in the US. It is not part of Google Play Pass.

Official trailer from Playstack, on YouTube.

It is rated 5.0 out of 5 on the App Store from more than 108,000 ratings, and 4.7 on Google Play. The phone version has over 150 Jokers and touch controls remade for the phone. One complaint we found is heat: a Google Play reviewer with a Galaxy S23 Ultra said it made the phone hot and drained the battery even with the graphics settings turned down.

Free games like Balatro on mobile

Dice of Kalma is the only game on this list that is free to play all the way through, with ads. Three more let you try before you pay. BALL x PIT has a free trial with no ads before its $14.99 purchase. Peglin, a game where you bounce an orb through a board of pegs, gives you the first third of the game for free and asks $9.99 on the US App Store for the rest; on Google Play its purchases cost $4.99 to $9.49. Letterlike has a free demo on its developer's website, playletterlike.com, which opens in a phone's browser.

If you already pay for a subscription, Apple Arcade includes Balatro+ and Dungeon Clawler+. Google Play Pass includes Luck be a Landlord, CloverPit, Gambonanza and Dungeon Clawler. If you want more games where you fight with dice, our list of games like Slay the Spire on mobile has Slice & Dice and Dicey Dungeons, as well as Peglin.

Which games like Balatro can you buy once?

Luck be a Landlord, Gambonanza, Dungeon Clawler and Letterlike are one purchase with nothing else to buy, on both stores. CloverPit sells one $1.99 add-on, and BALL x PIT sells an expansion on top of its full game. These are the prices on 2 November 2026:

GameUS App StoreGoogle Play
Balatro$9.99$9.99
Luck be a Landlord$4.99$4.99
CloverPit$6.99, plus $1.99 add-on$6.99, plus $1.99 add-on
Dice of KalmaFree with ads, $6.99 removes themFree with ads, purchases $0.99 to $19.99
Gambonanza$5.99$5.99
Dungeon Clawler$6.99$6.99
Letterlike$4.99$4.99
BALL x PITFree trial, then $14.99Free trial, purchases $6.99 to $14.99

Google Play marks CloverPit, Dice of Kalma and Dungeon Clawler as games you can play offline, and Letterlike's own listing says the whole game works without a connection. Google Play doesn't mark the others either way, and the App Store has no offline label, so we can't promise how the rest behave on a plane.

How do the stores rate these games?

Almost every game here sits between 4.7 and 4.9 out of 5 on both stores, so the stars won't choose for you. Luck be a Landlord is the exception at 4.2 on Google Play, where its reviews return to the luck problem in its section. Letterlike's stars rest on far fewer players than the rest. These are the ratings on 2 November 2026, with the number of ratings on the App Store, and of reviews on Google Play, in brackets:
