Games like Brotato on mobile

By the Lootero team. Published .

Brotato is already on iPhone and Android, as a free version and as Brotato: Premium, which you buy once. A run is a string of short arena waves, 20 to 90 seconds each, and between waves you spend the materials you picked up in a shop. Your potato can hold up to six weapons at once, and most of the fun is deciding which six.

These are the games we would play next on a phone once Brotato has stopped surprising you. Most of them keep the part where your weapons fire by themselves and every level gives you a choice. Fewer of them keep the shop, so we say for each game how much control you get over your build. Lootero is the game we are making, and it is on the list with a clear label.

Short answer

  • Closest on phones: 20 Minutes Till Dawn, from Brotato's mobile publisher.
  • The game that started the style, free with optional ads: Vampire Survivors.
  • Pay once and plan a slower build: Halls of Torment: Premium.
  • Spending what you collect between fights, inside an adventure: Lootero (our game, out November 2026).
  • Free to play with the biggest crowds: Survivor!.io.

20 Minutes Till Dawn

On phones
2022
Platforms
iPhone, Android
Price
Free version, or a paid Premium version
Official trailer from Erabit Studios, on YouTube.

Why you might like it

20 Minutes Till Dawn is the closest thing to Brotato on a phone. Erabit Studios published both on mobile, and they sell the same way: a free version, or a Premium version you pay for once. Each level-up offers upgrades that stack, and a good run turns a small gun into a screen full of bullets.

How it differs from Brotato

There is no shop. Your build comes from level-up picks, and a run is one long fight against the clock instead of short waves with breaks. You aim the gun yourself, or switch on auto-aim if you would rather only move.

Vampire Survivors

On phones
2022
Platforms
iPhone, Android (also Apple Arcade as Vampire Survivors+)
Price
Free, with optional ads and paid expansions
Official trailer from poncle, on YouTube.

Why you might like it

Vampire Survivors made this whole style popular, and Brotato players will recognise the core of it: your weapons fire on their own, you steer through a crowd that keeps growing, and each level-up asks you to pick. Late in a run some weapons evolve into much stronger versions, and that moment feels a lot like a lucky Brotato shop.

How it differs from Brotato

You never stop to shop. Runs are long and the screen fills slowly, where Brotato resets the arena every wave. On phones the base game is free with optional ads and no shop for power, and the expansions are paid.

Halls of Torment

Made by
Chasing Carrots, ported to phones by Erabit Studios
On phones
2024 (Premium), 2025 (free version)
Platforms
iPhone, Android
Price
Free version, or Halls of Torment: Premium ($4.99 on the US App Store)
Official trailer from Erabit Studios, on YouTube.

Why you might like it

Halls of Torment is for the Brotato player who likes reading item text. It looks like a dungeon game from the late 1990s and plays like a horde survival game, with traits and skills to pick during a run. Equipment and quests carry over between runs, so there is always something to work towards.

How it differs from Brotato

It is slower and darker, and a run asks for more planning than quick reactions. Like Brotato, it comes as a free version or as Halls of Torment: Premium, which costs $4.99 on the US App Store.

Lootero

On phones

Platforms
iPhone, Android
Price
Not announced yet
Every level-up is a choice: filmed in Lootero.

Why you might like it

If the shop is your favourite part of Brotato, Lootero has a version of that loop inside an adventure. Each world is a floating island you open up one piece at a time. Everything you hit drops loot, you sell it at a stall, and you spend the coins on the next piece of the island or on upgrades from Brokk the smith. Some pieces seal you in with waves of monsters, and every level-up deals you three cards, like extra arrows, piercing shots and spinning blades.

How it differs from Brotato

Lootero is an adventure first. You choose where to go next, take gifts from Norse gods and fight one boss per island, and after the boss comes the Last Stand, where monsters pour in until you fall. Your archer shoots when you stand still, so you move and stop instead of moving all the time. It is our game and comes to iPhone and Android in November 2026.

Survivor!.io

Made by
Habby
On phones
2022 (worldwide)
Platforms
iPhone, Android
Price
Free, with in-app purchases
Official trailer from Habby, on YouTube.

Why you might like it

Survivor!.io is the horde survival game most people on phones have played. Runs are short, the crowds are huge, and skill picks combine into evolved weapons, so you still get to build something in every run.

How it differs from Brotato

It is free to play with in-app purchases, and gear you keep and upgrade between runs matters much more than in Brotato, where each run starts from your chosen character alone. There is no shop between fights.

Heroes vs Hordes

Made by
Swift Games
On phones
2022
Platforms
iPhone, Android
Price
Free, with in-app purchases

Why you might like it

Heroes vs Hordes is a fantasy horde survival game played with one hand, with over 100 heroes, weapons and skills to unlock. Brotato players who enjoy trying every character will find a lot to collect here.

How it differs from Brotato

It is built around unlocking and upgrading heroes over time, as many free-to-play games are, so progress between runs counts for more than the choices inside one run.

Magic Survival

Made by
LEME
On phones
2019
Platforms
Android
Price
Free, with ads (a one-time purchase removes them)
Official trailer from LEME, on YouTube.

Why you might like it

Magic Survival is one of the earliest phone games in this style. You play a wizard surviving wave after wave, and every level offers a new spell or an upgrade to one you have.

How it differs from Brotato

It is simpler and plainer to look at, with spells in place of a shop and six weapon slots. We could only confirm it on Android.

Is Brotato free on mobile?

Yes, there is a free version on iPhone and Android. There is also Brotato: Premium, a one-time purchase, which costs $4.99 on the US App Store.

Which games like Brotato can you buy once?

Brotato: Premium, 20 Minutes Till Dawn: Premium and Halls of Torment: Premium are all one-time purchases on the App Store. Vampire Survivors is free with optional ads, and its expansions are paid.

What are games like Brotato called?

People usually call them survivors-likes, horde survival games or bullet heaven games, after Vampire Survivors. They share automatic attacks, a growing crowd of enemies and an upgrade choice at every level. Brotato adds short waves and a shop between them. If you want more of the Vampire Survivors side of the family, we wrote a separate list of games like Vampire Survivors on mobile.
