Games like Soul Knight on mobile
By the Lootero team. Published .
Soul Knight is a free pixel dungeon shooter for iPhone and Android. You pick one of more than 20 heroes and fight through randomly generated dungeons, picking up weapons from a pool of more than 400, from guns and swords to shovels, while auto-aim takes care of the fiddly part. It plays offline, and you can team up with friends online or over a local network.
These are the games we would play on a phone when Soul Knight needs a rest. Most of them are roguelikes like Soul Knight: every run is a new random dungeon, you start over when you die, and the weapons and items you find make each run different. Some are free like Soul Knight and some cost money up front, so every card says what you pay. Lootero is the game we are making, and after the list we say where it fits, clearly labelled.
Short answer

- Pay once with nothing else to buy, and fight with spells instead of guns: Wizard of Legend.

- A castle to fight through, with jumping and climbing as well: Dead Cells.
- The lowest price to buy, with a fortress to build between runs: Pocket Rogues: Ultimate.
Enter the Gungeon
- Made by
- Dodge Roll, published by Devolver Digital
- On phones
- 2025
- Platforms
- iPhone, Android
- Price
- Free to try, then one purchase for the full game ($6.99 on the US App Store)
Why you might like it
Enter the Gungeon is the game we would hand a Soul Knight player first. You pick a hero and fight down through floors full of living bullets called the Gundead, gathering loot and buying items from shopkeepers on the way. Like Soul Knight it is a shooter, and a run changes with what you find. You can dodge roll through bullets and flip tables over for cover.
How it differs from Soul Knight
It asks more of your reactions, because the rooms fill up with bullets and dodging them is most of the game. The first floor, the Keep of the Lead Lord, is free to play. The rest of the game and online co-op come with one purchase, which was $6.99 on the US App Store when we checked. The phone version came out in August 2025 with new touch controls, and for its first months it had a guest hero, the Lamb from Cult of the Lamb.
Soul Knight Prequel
- Made by
- ChillyRoom
- On phones
- 2023
- Platforms
- iPhone, Android
- Price
- Free, with in-app purchases
Why you might like it
Soul Knight Prequel comes from ChillyRoom, the studio behind Soul Knight, and it tells the story of the same world before the first game, with the same cute, big-headed heroes. You choose a class such as Thief or Archer, and at level 12 you can move up to a stronger class with its own web of skills. Monsters drop gear all the time, so this is the one to pick if your favourite moment in Soul Knight is opening a chest.
How it differs from Soul Knight
It is an action RPG, so your character levels up and keeps building gear from one dungeon to the next. The developers also run seasons, each with limited-time events and new goals to work toward. Between dungeons you can go back to Chillstead Village and grow crops. You can play alone or party up with friends to raid dungeons, though the listing doesn't say how many can join. It is free with in-app purchases, and its Google Play listing says it contains ads.
Otherworld Legends
- Made by
- ChillyRoom
- On phones
- 2020
- Platforms
- iPhone, Android
- Price
- Free, with ads and in-app purchases
Why you might like it
Otherworld Legends is ChillyRoom's other pixel roguelike, with heroes who fight up close, from range or with magic, among them a kung fu master. You collect odd items as you go and mix them into a build, and the dungeons change every run, with secret rooms and hidden shops to find.
How it differs from Soul Knight
The fights are built around close combat and combos, where Soul Knight is built around guns. You can team up with friends online, and the listing promises offline play for a single player, which makes it a good game for a flight.
Wizard of Legend
- Made by
- Contingent99, published by Balor Games (formerly Humble Games)
- On phones
- 2023
- Platforms
- iPhone, Android
- Price
- $7.99 on the US App Store, paid once
Why you might like it
Wizard of Legend swaps the guns for spells. There are over 100 spells and relics (passive upgrades you pick up on the way), and the fun comes from chaining spells into combinations that suit the way you play. It is fast and rewards quick movement, and every dungeon is laid out differently.
How it differs from Soul Knight
You buy it once for $7.99 on the US App Store, and its Google Play listing shows no in-app purchases. Co-op is local only: a friend joins over the same Wi-Fi, and you can also fight each other. There are aim assist options for touch screens, and full controller support if you have one.
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth
- Made by
- Nicalis, designed by Edmund McMillen
- On phones
- 2017
- Platforms
- iPhone and iPad
- Price
- $14.99 on the US App Store (expansions extra)
Why you might like it
If the best Soul Knight runs for you are the ones where a strange item turns everything around, The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth is built on that feeling. It has more than 450 items, and the treasures Isaac finds change his body and give him new powers, so no two runs look alike.
How it differs from Soul Knight
We could only find it on the App Store, for iPhone and iPad, where it costs $14.99, and its expansions are sold on top, from $14.99 each. It is rated 17+, and the story, about a boy hiding in the basement from his mother, is much darker than Soul Knight's goblins and aliens, so this one is for adults. The listing offers two-player local co-op, so a friend can play next to you.
Dead Cells
- Made by
- Motion Twin (later updates by Evil Empire), published on phones by Playdigious
- On phones
- 2019 (iPhone), 2020 (Android)
- Platforms
- iPhone, Android
- Price
- $8.99 on the US App Store, paid once (expansions extra)
Why you might like it
Dead Cells has the same pull as Soul Knight: a big pile of weapons and skills, and the promise that the next run will go differently. You play a failed alchemy experiment fighting through a castle that changes every time, and each death opens up new paths and new levels to try.
How it differs from Soul Knight
It is a 2D action platformer seen from the side, so you jump and climb as well as fight. It costs $8.99 on the US App Store with no ads, and the expansions are sold on top, among them Return to Castlevania for $6.99. You can move and resize the touch buttons, or play with a controller, and it is a game for one player only.
Pocket Rogues
- Made by
- Ether Gaming
- On phones
- 2017 (Ultimate), 2018 (free version)
- Platforms
- iPhone, Android
- Price
- Free version, or Pocket Rogues: Ultimate ($2.99 on the US App Store); both sell gems
Why you might like it
Pocket Rogues is a real-time dungeon crawler where you pick a hero class and dodge traps through dungeons that change every run. Between runs you build up a guild fortress, and its buildings unlock new classes and make the ones you have stronger.
How it differs from Soul Knight
It plays more like a classic action RPG: you level up your heroes and upgrade their equipment, and the combat rewards good timing on your dodges. There is a free version, and Pocket Rogues: Ultimate costs $2.99 on the US App Store, the lowest price to buy on this list. Both versions also sell gems in the game, from $1.99. Neither listing says what the free one leaves out or mentions co-op, so we would try the free one first.
Where Lootero fits
Lootero is the game we are making, so take this part as our own pitch. You play a young archer on floating islands. Each island starts as a small patch of grass in the clouds, and you spend the coins from what you gather on the next piece of land. When you stand still, your archer fires at whatever is closest, a monster or just a tree, and everything you hit drops something. Some of those new pieces of land lock you in until you beat waves of slimes, bats and golems, and every level-up deals you three cards, like piercing shots or spinning blades.
Where Soul Knight hands you a backpack of guns, Lootero gives you one bow, and your build comes from those cards and from gifts that Norse gods like Thor and Skadi offer after every second fight. Each island ends with a boss you summon when you are ready, and after it comes the Last Stand, where monsters pour in until you fall. Lootero is single-player, so there is no co-op. It comes to iPhone and Android in November 2026.
Which games like Soul Knight have co-op?
Five of the seven games here list co-op. Enter the Gungeon has online co-op as part of its full game, Soul Knight Prequel lets you party up with friends, and Otherworld Legends has online co-op. Wizard of Legend has local co-op over Wi-Fi. The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth lists two-player local co-op on its App Store page. Dead Cells and Lootero are single-player, and the Pocket Rogues listings don't mention co-op.
Which games like Soul Knight can you buy once?
Wizard of Legend, Dead Cells, The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth and Pocket Rogues: Ultimate are paid up front, and only Wizard of Legend has nothing else to buy. Dead Cells and Isaac sell expansions, and Pocket Rogues sells gems. Enter the Gungeon is free to try, and one purchase unlocks the rest. These are the US App Store prices on 28 October 2026:
| Game | Price | Android |
|---|---|---|
| Pocket Rogues: Ultimate | $2.99, gems sold in the game | Yes |
| Enter the Gungeon | Free first floor, $6.99 for the full game | Yes |
| Wizard of Legend | $7.99 | Yes |
| Dead Cells | $8.99, expansions extra ($3.99 to $6.99) | Yes |
| The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth | $14.99, expansions extra (from $14.99) | Not that we could find |
Are there games like Soul Knight you can play offline?
Soul Knight itself plays offline, and Otherworld Legends promises offline play for a single player in its store listing. The listings for the other six, the paid ones included, don't say either way, and we haven't tried them on a plane, so we would start each one once with a connection before counting on it offline.
What kind of game is Soul Knight?
Soul Knight calls itself a pixel roguelike shooter: every run goes through a new dungeon, you find your weapons along the way, and you shoot more than you swing. Enter the Gungeon and The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth play the most like that on this list.
Lootero comes out in November 2026
